The South Coast Designated Maritime Area Plan (DMAP) was approved by the Oireachtas on October 10, 2024. This marks Ireland’s first spatial plan for renewable energy, outlining four new offshore wind farm sites along the coasts of Wexford, Waterford, and Cork. The first site, Tonn Nua, is anticipated to be auctioned in early 2025. Located off the coast of County Waterford, Tonn Nua covers a marine area of 312.6 square kilometres and is projected to host a 900 MW offshore wind farm development.
